We are constantly being bombarded by messages from the media about what we should look like, how to have the perfect body, what foods we should and shouldn’t eat. Food manufacturers and supermarkets keep pumping out adverts trying to tempt us with treats, “because we deserve it”, while the press is full of diet advice and skinny models, and government warnings about rising levels of obesity. It’s no wonder so many of us are confused about our own body image.
Many of the clients I help with weight management in Mayfair and Tunbridge Wells have a very complex relationship with food which has been formed since childhood. We learn a lot from our parents’ attitudes and how they used to make us feel at the table, making us finish our plates, or using sweet treats as a reward. Some people punish themselves by denying themselves food, and others comfort eat to try and make themselves feel better about other aspects of their life. Stress, and disturbed sleep patterns often have a big part to play in bad diet.
Hypnotherapy and NLP can be a very powerful way to help you to develop a new self image, think positively about weight and diet, and learn to be more relaxed about managing your weight. By using visualisation techniques, I help you see yourself in the future with a more positive body image and attitude to eating, so that you are able to think, feel, and eat like a healthy person. I help you change your thinking so that you want to exercise because it’s fun, and you want to eat the right foods and only when you’re hungry. By guiding you to understand the underlying causes that are triggering your stress, I teach you to manage your responses and give you coping strategies so that you are free from any feelings of self-blame or hating yourself, or low self-esteem.
Imagine how much happier you will feel when you start to feel better about yourself. This will help you to feel even better about who you are and what you can achieve. Managing your weight becomes a positive cycle triggered by feeling good about yourself, and you will feel healthier and happier and less stressed. In order to change your body, you need to first change your mind. By tackling those deep feelings that form the foundations of your eating habits, I can help you adopt a healthier lifestyle so that you can live your life happier and stress free.
